Tagetes is a genus of annual or perennial, mostly herbaceous plants in the sunflower family Asteraceae. They are among several groups of plants known in English as marigolds. Blooms naturally occur in golden, orange, yellow, and white colors, often with maroon highlights. Though they grow in almost any soil, marigolds do best in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. If planted in shade and cool, moist areas, marigolds are prone to powdery mildew and won't bloom well. Marigolds can even handle the reflected heat and light of paved surfaces as long as they get regular moisture. 15 kg seed per acre.
